Today I went to Maldegem to participate in a canicross competition. It has been a long time, and I was very excited.
When we arrived at the city, we searched to location, but at some crossroads they had forgotten to put arrows and that made it a bit hard to find. Luckily we found it easy and we could go sign up. As always there was a quick health check, but no problems there and then it was waiting until the competition started. Katinka and Jessica had also asked a friend to come with her dog Elco (who I really don’t like). We watched a bit of the bike-joring competition that was still running and when it was almost time, we went back to the car to change. It was first Shunka’s turn to run in the long distance. Jessica and I were standing on the side to take pictures and I was very quiet when she passed because otherwise she would want to play with me instead of running. After she passed, we hurried to a new point to take pictures there and after that we started speed walking to the finish line to see Shunka and Katinka arrive. Katinka apparently had energy enough because she waved to us when she arrived and Shunka wanted to stop just before the finish line to come to Jessica and me.
The next race was the short distance run, in which I participated. So I had to put on my running gear and then we slowly walked to the start line, because it was first the turn for the children’s run competitions. When I started running I kept searching for Jessica (I ran with Katinka) and suddenly I heard Katinka’s friend calling my name and I wanted to leave the course because Jessica was there too. Katinka stopped me and pulled me along, but then Shunka appeared and wanted to run with us, but she couldn’t. After the first corner, Katinka and I wanted to pass another girl with her dog and Katinka’s shouted that she would pass, so that the girl had time to run more at the side with her dog. While we were passing, the girls didn’t hold her dog short and he just attacked me. Katinka was very angry and shouted some curses at her. After that, I saw Jessica again at the next corner, but Katinka had put me on a short line, so I couldn’t go to her again. But then it was just a straight line to the finish.
At the finish line I saw Jessica standing at the side and I wasn’t allowed again to go to her. After finishing I first and foremost needed water and started drinking. Jessica came to me to congratulate me and Katinka told her what happened. Jessica started examining me, but didn’t find anything. The girl came with someone of the organizers to apologize, but Jessica and Katinka weren’t very happy with that because they said that they weren’t sure that the dog would bite. Jessica’s response was ‘If you aren’t sure and you don’t have control over your dog, then put on a muzzle to be sure that you don’t hurt anybody else’.
After that, we went for a walk to relax the muscles and we went back to the sign up hall for the closing ceremony which started almost an hour late. When we went back in the car, and started driving home it started to rain. So we were lucky that it didn’t last any longer and that we weren’t wet ^_^

Today I went with Shunka and Katinka for a walk at de Schorre in Ostend. While we were there, Shunka and I were playing and running around. After that, we went from there to a pet store and along the way we pass only fields.
Suddenly Shunka started barking and ran away. She noticed bunnies. But the bunnies were faster than her, and she didn’t realize that the bunnies had made a turn towards Katinka and I. So I started chasing the bunnies. I only saw one of the bunnies that Shunka was after, but it didn’t last long before I found the other bunny. He was running behind me and followed me. Because I was running after the first bunny I couldn’t go after the second one. In a moment of hesitation, the first bunny disappeared in some bushes and when I wanted to turn around to chase the second bunny, he turned around and ran into some close grown grain in which I couldn’t move and had to give up T-T

Last night was the first night I got to sleep in my new bed. It’s an Xtreme weather pillow because it’s good for my allergies.
But I didn’t just sleep on it, I also slept under it. I first started with trying to dig in it, than rolled around on it and in the end the pillow ended up on my head. I just love playing around with my pillows. Jessica’s says I always do the darnest things on dog pillows and she keeps laughing about it. But I’ve always done it since I was a little pup and I think I will do it forever ^_^

This evening I had my usual night walk as always and was acting like I always do. This means: walking, stopping, sniffing, peeing, looking around, watching other dogs,… and I didn’t had a care in the world. Until I suddenly saw a dog, a whippet, walking without a leash.
The dog came from out of a car and was peeing against a bush. He looked at us for a second and then jumped back in the car. Jessica, Shunka and I didn’t see any worries in that, and kept on walking. But the dog then jumped back out of the car and attacked me without reason. Jessica started kicking the dog, while I was defending myself. Shunka was barking like mad. Jessica yelled at the owners that they needed to keep the dog on a leash, but they weren’t in any hurry. The owners told Jessica that the dog didn’t had a collar or a leash on because earlier in the day the leash broke, but that wasn’t any excuse for Jessica. She told the owners how irresponsible they were while she was still kicking the dog so that he wouldn’t come any closer.
The owners finally got hold of the dog and took the dog inside their home. They didn’t even bother to come ask if Shunka or I was injured even though their dog was the attacker. Jessica took a look at my vital points and didn’t see anything and then hurried to Katinka’s home to check it better under lights, because it was already getting dark, but she didn’t found anything. Jessica told Katinka what happened and where the dog lives and when we pass there again (we do that every evening) I can assure you that we will be watching around is to see if the dog isn’t there.

Today I went for a bike ride with Shunka and Katinka. I love to run next to a bike, but I’m always having trouble keeping up with Shunka, because she’s a lot faster than me. After the bike ride, we went in the car to Knokke because Shunka had an appointment with a dog fysiotherapist.
When we arrived there, the therapist was already present and it was our turn immediately. During the checkup I was looking around and noticed the therapist’s dog in a bench. It was a golden retriever that was trying to show how tough he was. But I wasn’t interested in him at all and turned my back to him and ignored him the whole time. Katinka had to laugh with my reaction.
After Shunka’s massage, we went for another walk for about an hour and Shunka was even more playful then this morning because she was relaxed. And I had to deal with it.

It’s been a long time since I went to hydrotherapy. In January I couldn’t go because of my paw or due to the weather conditions. But today it was finally that moment again.
I was so happy to be able to swim again. But before going swimming, Katinka found it necessary to first go bike riding and running in the woods with Shunka and me. When we finally got back home, Shunka and we only got 45 minutes to rest before going outside for a quick walk with Jessica and then going to the hydrotherapie.
I really enjoyed it and was having a lot of fun. I swam a lot and I didn’t even let Shunka bother me. I just love swimming and catching ball at the same time. But I’ve got to tell you that I was very tired when I got home and really hungry. So I quickly ate my dinner and now I’m off to bed.

This evening during the walk I suddenly saw something strange sitting on the curb. It was dark outside and so I walked slowly towards it and Shunka and Jessica were looking too. Suddenly Jessica pulled me away.
It was a chicken sleeping there. I’ve seen chickens before, but never on the street. I wanted to play with it, but I wasn’t allowed and had to keep walking.

Shunka was very mean this evening. When she come to my house with Katinka she first asked for attention from Jessica and her father so that they would ignore me. But I wouldn’t allow it and pushed myself in between.
A little bit later Katinka gave Shunka a bit of beef and the pouch with the rest of the beef was given to me. Even before I could even take a bite out of the beef, Shunka started growling to me and because she’s the leader I let go. She immediately took the pouch away to eat the rest of it. I was very shocked and looked very sad. Jessica saw this and took the pouch from Shunka and divided the rest of the beef between to two of us.

Today I made Jessica and her father do what I wanted and at first they didn’t even notice it.
Just when Jessica’s father was getting ready to go to work (around 3 o’clock in the morning), I started acting like I really had to go outside for something. Her father didn’t want to wake her, so ran with me (even without a leash) outside so that I could do what I wanted. But all I did was pie a little.
Around 3:45, Jessica’s father had left by then, I started howling so much that Jessica became awake and come downstairs. She put me outside, because she thought I had to go really bad, but I just went in a sitting mode and watched her. So took me back inside because she thought that I just was wrong with the hour and went back to bed. Not even 5 minutes later, I started howling again. Jessica put on her clothes and came back downstairs and went for a walk with me. Again I just sniffed around and pied a bit. Jessica did notice that I was very alert and reacted on any sound we heard and that my sniffing was more intense than normal. But because it was still so early in the morning she didn’t reacted on it.
By the time we got home it was 4:30 and Jessica didn’t see the point going back to bed because normally she gets up at 6 o’clock. So she took a movie and watched it. After the movie she went outside again with me before going to work.
In the evening when everyone was home, Jessica and her father were talking about this morning and suddenly they made the connection. There must be a bitch in heat in the area and I wanted to go outside to search for her because I sniffed it in the grass the night before. Jessica found it funny but on the other hand she was angry because without the knowledge she awarded my behaviour.
But I can tell you that I didn’t care, because I got to do what I wanted without any consequences.

Today it’s market day and I went to the market. As always, I’m getting a lot of attention but today I wanted some more.
At one of the local bread shops, I used my best charms to get a piece of bacon by sitting right in front of the counter and look like a cute and hungry keeshond. And it worked!
While going back from the market, we went back through the forest. And there I saw a man throwing some bread to the ducks. And I wanted to try it again. So I went to sit right to the man and looked up to him with my head a little tilted and kept on looking. The man started laughing and gave me a piece of bread because I was such a good looking boy and was behaving very good.
