Updates of the site

Posted on 30 September 2005

Sorry that I haven’t been updating the site this last week. Things have been busy with the start of school.
This weekend I will update the site and put new pictures online from Eiji.

Full of fire

Posted on 20 September 2005

Today I was like a sport car. I was unstoppable. This lasted until Jessica got tired of it ^_^
I was full energy today and let this know by lots of things. I was running around like crazy and barking. And I was barking so much that they couldn’t hear anything else anymore (I know, I’m a little devil).
So Jessica got fed up with it and put on my harnass. I didn’t want that so I decided to bite and scratch her, but this didn’t stop her. She placed my in the car and drove away… to the beach!
When we arrived there I got more enthousiastic and she had to be very strict with me to control me until we got in the sand. And there it happened… she took off the slate link.
This made me very happy and I started running around like crazy and dug in the sand.
The water was pulling back and this left some little puddles of water, which I love to run through. Together we played tag and ran away from eahother and tried to catch each other. I was so happy.
Whne we got home, I was so tired that I fell asleep in just a couple of seconds.

Asobo u

Today was a day that I was in play mode. I had a lot of energy today and everything I wanted to do I turned into a game. And this was a lot of fun.
We played all day long all different kinds of games, from playing pull to fetch. Even a little home training was turned into a chasing game ^_^
So Jessica decided that she had to let me release all my energy. She took me in the car and didn’t tell me were we went. After 20 minutes we arrived at dog school and nobody was there. She let me loose and let me run in the fields until I was dead tired.
When we got home, I went to sleep and when I wake up I got this very big doggy cookie. I ran to my basket to eat and I thought it was very yummy.
After that I had my normal amount of energy and for the rest of the day we played like we normally do and went for walks.
Btw, if you’re wondering what wrong with the title, it’s Japanese for “Let’s play” ^_~

Zoo pictures

Posted on 18 September 2005

There’s a delay on the zoo pictures, because Katinka’s computer still isn’t fixed (the people work very slowly in Mol) and this means she wasn’t able to send the pictures from the zoo visit.
I don’t know when I will be able to put them online, but when I got them I will place them online.

Dog school

Posted on 18 September 2005

Today I went to dog school again. I’m going to “Hond & Gezel”, translated as “Dog & Companion”.
There were only 2 other puppies for the class, even though the weather was good. It was bit chilly at first, but you warm up fast.
The other 2 puppies were a german shephard and a labrador retriever.
Before we went on field I was very energetic. I wanted to play with every dog that came and was jumping around, while the other dogs weren’t allowed.
When we got on the field, we first started with play time. So I got very excited and was barking and running around and suddenly the other dogs were following me. It was like we were playing “3 on a row” because we were running around like that ^_^
Then the german shepherd got me and I had to give in. I was the first to lay on my back (NO FAIR!!!). So I decided to try it to him, but no luck. I kept on losing to him. The labrador was feeling left out so decided to butt in and started barking. He was able to win over the german shepherd, so I thought that I would be the top dog if I was able to win over the labrador. But no such luck. I kept on giving in on him too T_T
Then it was time for serious work. We had to do the basic command (sit, lay down and stand). Then there was a moment for playing with Jessica and then we had to do the follow and look up exercise (I’m good at those ^_^).
After that there was another little playing time and then the lesson was over.

Creating habits part II

Posted on 17 September 2005

Let’s talk again about some of the habits I’m creating. And I have created some new ones.
Since I arrived here, they have been trying to train me for doing my natural business in the back yard. And most of the time this is working fine for me, except when the door is closed and I can’t go outside. Everytime they see that I do it outside, they reward me and I like that, but when I do it outside and nobody sees it I don’t get that reward. So to fixed this I found a way to let them know. Everytime I do my business outside I start to bark so that they have to come watch. And then I get my reward ^_^
When I get a reward I take it to my basket or go eat it outside and that seems to please everyone. I think it has something to do with my future. Apparently I’m going to get a very special diet and I’m going to eat natural food and raw meat and then I have to eat it in specific places and don’t take it in the living area.
I also like to play with my treats and sometimes I’m even barking to it. And when I’m done ‘taming’ my treat I go lay down and start eating it.
When we are walking outside, I’m behaving like the perfect dog and walk next to Jessica, but when I see grass, a dog or another person I want to go to them and I get a bit wild. I start jumping around and go in play mode.
I’m starting to see a lot of old people outside (more than children), but this seems to be normal for this time of year. But I don’t mind that. A lot of them (especially men) find me very cute and come over to give me attention and play with me.
And now the big surprise. This is probably an exclusive for the Keeshond (and then I mean for the puppies): I CLEAN UP MY TOYS!
When Jessica and I are playing and I don’t want to play with that toy anymore, I take it to my basket and lay it there. Then I take out another toy and take it to Jessica to play with it. And after playing I return it to my basket.
I started doing this after Jessica’s mother put my toys in my basket to clean the floor. I found this a very good idea and I decided to start doing it myself.
And do you know what the good part is because of this? I get to keep most of my toys with me during the night. So when I should wake up and want to play with something. I don’t have to look for it ^_^

Running contest

Posted on 16 September 2005

Today was again a quite rainy day, but I was a lot more active.
In the evening, there was a running contest not far from where I live and Jessica decided to take a look with me.
There was a very strong wind and I had to use all my power to be able to walk forward ^_^ When we saw the first runners I wasn’t very interested. The dogs that were passing by were more appealing to me. After a while we went closer to the finish line.
At the finish line were a lot more people and somebody was talking into a microphone that was connected to an enhancer. It was a bit loud, but it couldn’t bother me one bit. The flags there were more frightening. They were making a ot of noise due to the wind. We stayed there for some time. While standing there, lots of things happened: police cars and motors passed by (with or without sirene), runners and visitors. I have to say, I was the most attracted to the runners. At some time I wanted to run with them, but I wasn’t allowed T_T
During all that time, it was raining. And during the time we were there it was getting heavier and heavier. So finally, Jessica (who was just in a Tshirt) decided that it was time to go home. During the walk home, I was enjoying myself in the rain and became very wild. I was trying to run and jumping around. By the time we got home, we were both like 2 drowned rats ^_^
I think the rain is going to be one of my favorite types of weather.

Another lazy day

Posted on 15 September 2005

Today was a lazy day. I didn’t feel like doing a lot.
I just played a short time before laying down and play on my own. I also didn’t had the energy to go for a long walk. Maybe I was influenced by the weather. It was raining all day long and I did enjoy walking and laying in the rain. But even though it was raining, it was hot and I don’t really like that.
But on the evening walk, I found something new: snails. Since it had been raining all the, suddenly the snails came all out. And they all had these “rocks” on their back. Jessica told me that was their home. I also wanted to taste a snail, but I wasn’t allowed. Oh well, at least I get my dryed lamb jerkey at home. It’s one of my favorite treats ^_^

How dare I?

Posted on 14 September 2005

Today was another day of mischief ^_^ (for Jessica and her parents I mean).
Today was a day I didn’t want to listen to anything and only did the things I wasn’t allowed to do. I was attacking the back door, biting every hand and foot I came along and I found something new: the bin.
I found out that you can find some eatable things in there that I haven’t got to eat before and some of it I like. But Jessica discovered it and kept a close eye on my. And the result is that I won’t be able to get something out of the bin again. She’s clever and she found a way that made it impossible for me to take anything out of it.
Today I also got a new training: being alone for a long time. Since I came to live here, there hasn’t been an actual period of time that I had been alone in the house. When they went somewhere, I always tagged along. So they put my in the kitchen and closed the baby fence. I had to be there all alone and I didn’t want that. So I started crying and barking in hope that somebody would come. But nobody came. Only after a while after I stopped making noise, Jessica came and rewarded me. But then she left again and I had to be alone for 1,5 hour. Because I behaved during that time, I got a delicious bone as reward.

The beach

Posted on 13 September 2005

It took a while, but we finally went to the beach.
I was very curious to find out which kind of place it was and I loved it.
When we arrived, I went in the sand and it felt a bit weird. But I wasn’t afraid and very soon I started dogging holes.
But then I noticed all these little things on the beach: seaweed, shells and kelp. I started eating some of the shells, but Jessica wouldn’t let me. So in stead I kept on digging holes. I just love to do that.
But then I noticed something: water. And a whole lot of it. Jessica took me closer and told me that the water was the sea. It was strange. The water kept on coming nearer and then backed away again. But everytime the water kept on coming closer there was more water. I didn’t understand that a lot and wasn’t very interested at first. So I decided to start digging another hole. But while I was digging that hole, suddenly water came in it. So that was it, I got angry. So I started barking at the sea to let it know that it had to stop. But it didn’t. Sometimes I touched the water, but I didn’t want that. So I tried to run away. But suddenly Jessica took of her shoes and took my slate link and went closer to the sea. And before I knew it, we were both getting wet. I kept running around her, barking and playing with her.
After a while we left the water behind us and started walking on the beach. We went on a seawall. There were very little crabs on it, they weren’t even bigger than 0.5 cm, and I sniffed around it a bit.
After that we walked a little bit more and then it was time to go home.
