Archive for year 2007

Today I went on a trip with Jessica to Antwerp. We do that a couple of times a year to search for specific items that aren’t available in Ostend.
I have to say I love shopping and going to Antwerp is always a treat. It’s a whole day that I can be alone with Jessica without interference of anybody else.
First, we started off going to the station. We took the long route so that I could do my stuff before getting on the train. We went through all the parks and all the calm streets so that I could walk freely around. When we arrived at the station, Jessica first bought a ticket for me (yes, you have to pay for dogs on the train) and then we started searching a quiet place in the train.
Before we left I saw that Jessica had put some cookies in her bag and I started to look very hungry to her so that I could get one. And yay me, I succeeded ^_^
It takes about an hour and a half to get to Antwerp and during this time, it got busier at each stop. There was even a bad person who stepped on my paws. I started growling and barked. Some people were surprised, but hey, that hurts. But Jessica quickly called my attention and I forgot all about it… mmmhhhh cookies….
When we arrived at Antwerp, it was about noon and we first went of to the shops we needed to go. After we got everything we had, Jessica went to buy some take-out. When we arrived back at the station we sat down to wait for the train back to Ostend and Jessica started eating.
But suddenly I smelled something very yummy. And when she was finished, Jessica took out a pig-in-a-blanket and gave it to me. I was so happy and started eating it. People who were passing were laughing. I guess they’ve never seen a dog eating it.
And the way home some other person stepped on my tail (what is it with people hurting me today) and I decided to crawl under Jessica’s seat. I slept under her seat until we arrived in Ostend and then we went back home again.

It’s that time of year again. The final holidays of the year. And I can tell you: I love these days! This means special treats like Xmas cookies, meals with turkey and last but not least: presents!!!
And I already know what I’m getting since I had to try it on. I’m getting my own safety vest for walking in the dark. Some areas we walk are very dark and there are no lights. The few cars and bikes that go through those areas hardly see me and this made Jessica realise that she had to get me something.
But that’s not all I’m getting. I suspect some plushies and other toys.
I’ll go search for them any minute now ^_^

I know, the updates are slowing down. I’m waiting for something that my sister has done with Eiji to put it up on the site. So keep patient. You will find lot’s of updates in Eiji’s diary soon enough. During the last months several things have happened to Eiji and I can tell you that he’s eager to write them ^_^
As you can see, I made a new layout for the site. It seems that I almost only update this page, when I’ve made a new layout.
I hope you like the new layout. I want to thank Karl Donvil from 123dog.NET for the beautiful pictures he took from Eiji during the Dog show in Ostend last September. All the pictures in the layout are made by him. If you want any of those pictures or want to see more of them, just go to 123dog.NET and search for the pictures of the show. You can find over 30 pictures of Eiji there from the shoot.

It’s that time of year again. It’s the fair. Which means: YUMMY FOOD!!
This month we go several times to the fair to walk around. It’s very noisy when it’s the fair with lot’s of hard music and hard sounds from slot machines. But I don’t mind one bit. And this is because there are always yummy treats to be found on the ground. And everytime, just before we go home I get a sausage ^_^
Jessica sometimes plays a game and tries to win a plushie for me. But the machines are very loose and it’s getting harder and harder to win something. But I don’t mind ^_^

It took one Shunka and some a couple of days to get rid of the annoyance in my mouth. And this is how I did it ^_^
On Wednesday evening Katinka came by with Shunka to visit poor little sick me. And I think you all know me by now. When I see Shunka, I go out of my mind. We started playing like we hadn’t seen each other in years. When Jessica heard what we were doing, she ran to us and seperated us. Afterwards, she was really angry at us. One of the treats got broking during our playtime.
After that I wasn’t allowed to see Shunka anymore. That is until today. I can tell you that I missed her and that when I saw her today, I lost it and become wilder and wilder.
The treats in my tongue are all away now and there is only a little cut at the side of my tongue. Most of it grew together.
But do you know what the worst thing was during all this time? I wasn’t allowed to eat hard food!!!!! Which means: NO COOKIES and NO BONES!!!!!!!
I can tell you I lost weight during this last week and I’m still not allowed to eat any hard food and cookies for a week. This is apparently necesary so that the muscles in my tongue can heal better.
Well, I can tell you, I don’t like that. And I will try to get my way and receive cookies.
Wish me luck!

When I woke up today I still felt a little bit drowsy, but then I noticed that there was something in my mouth. And I can’t seem to get it out. It’s just like something is sticking on my tongue.
I try biting it, but Jessica won’t let me. It’s like some strings are on my mouth with little knots. I don’t get it. Why can’t I break them? Somebody please tell me!!

I told you that I had bitten my own tongue on Sunday. Well, I had to be operated yesterday so that I shouldn’t have a split tongue for the rest of my life.
Jessica had been thinking about it since the moment I got home and she had seen it until she was driving to her work. She decided to leave an hour early so that we could go to the vet to see if nothing was wrong.
When we got at the vet, we had to wait a little while, but that doesn’t bother me. This means more time for me to be a keeshond and sniffle all over the place.
When it was our turn, Jessica placed me on the table and then they had to wait until I saw fit to stick out my tongue, because when the vet tried to open my mouth to look, the cut wasn’t very clear. When I started panting, the vet saw how big the cut was and was very surprised that I was able to do that to myself.
And then the decision had to be made: to operate or not to operate. The vet was doubting a bit because it is something that he hasn’t done much during all his years, but when Jessica asked what he would do if I was his dog, he said he would operate it because it wouldn’t heal a lot like how it was. So Jessica immediatly replied “OK, than we operate.”
They immediatly made an appointment for the same evening at 8 o’clock, because the longer we waited to operate, the harder it would be to heal properly.
I wasn’t really aware of anything. I was busy looking to the treats that were standing in the vet’s office. But I can tell you I was really surprised to be there again a little before 8. Jessica rang and the vet opened the door.
I had to be weighed to know how many seditive he needed. And before I had taken notice of the whole situation, I got a shot. At first I didn’t notice anything, but after a couple of minutes my limps were getting more and more slack. Jessica hold be before I fell down and together with the vet, they laid my down on the table. And after that I don’t remember much.

This weekend I have done something that not many has done before. I participated in the first dog tracking in Belgium with Katinka and Shunka! This means that I did a walk of 75km (that’s about 47miles) in 3 days! And I can tell you it wasn’t easy and that had many reasons.
The most important reason is Shunka. She was in heat and then she is even more interesting for me than on other days. During these last few days I was very alert and didn’t want any other male dogs around her. So this meant that I had to protect her and keep a close watch on her and if necesary I had to stand tall and show to the other dogs that Shunka is mine and mine alone. But I can tell you that it has taking it’s toll. I’m very tired now and can’t wait to go to sleep.
The other reason that made us walk even more that the 75km is loss of direction. We were giving a map and a compass and we had to find our way to several check points. When entering the event, you had to choose what you wanted to do. And Katinka had choosen for the group walk of 75 km. But she forgot one important thing that she had to check before starting: is there someone in the group that can read a map!?!?!? And the answer is: NO!
On the first day there was a dropping in the evening and my group got lost very quickly and it resulted in the people of the organisation searching for us ^_^
But I have to say that I did a couple of things for the first time during this walk. Ofcourse, the event itself, walking 75km was something I’ve never done before. But there were also a couple of other things, some good and some bad.
This weekend was the first time that I had to sleep in a tent. I’ve always slept indoors and this was the first time that I had to sleep more outside. The second night it was a lot colder so Katinka decided to sleep in the car together with me and Shunka and I must say: it’s not comfortable.
And that was the good things, the bad news is that I hurt myself. On the last day during the walk some dog was coming closer to Shunka and I decided to distract that dog by playing with him. But during my excitement, I bit on my own tongue. It started bleeding very heavily and it took some time to stop. Luckely there was a vet with us and she took a look. I had a cut that was almost 2cm deep on the side just next to my left fang. It didn’t hurt that very long and it didn’t take long before I was acting like always. Jumping around and walking besides Shunka.
Sadly enough there aren’t any pictures because Katinka was to busy with checking if no dogs were ready to go close to Shunka.
But that’s all that I wanted to tell. I’m off to bed because I’m very tired now and want to go to sleep.

I’m not telling. You’ll have to wait until I get to that part ^_^
The dog show is about a 15 minute walk from where I live, so Jessica and I went at foot. Jessica had packed everything in her backpack and in the walk to the show I was able to enjoy the fresh wet grass in the morning which I would have to miss for the rest of the day.
When we arrived at the location it was a bit unclear where we had to go, but a cooperator of the show told us where to go. But first we had to go to the health check post before entering the show. Since we didn’t had to go far we were one of the first to arrive. Many of the shops at the show were still very busy getting everything ready. But first we had to get our little information booklet to know where we had to be for showing.
When we found the ring I saw I ws the first keeshond to arrive. So now we knew where the ring was, but left immediatly after that to buy a slim leash for the show. It didn’t take long to find one and when we returned to the ring, there were more pomeranians and keeshonden at the ring. Jessica started to unpack her backpack and laid out my blanket for both of us to sit on. After a while some of the people we knew were starting to arrive. And then the long wait started.
Meanwhile, Karlo, the owner of the kennel that I come from, saw that there was an error. According to the information book I was a pomeranian. Nice to know that I suddenly are a different breed. So Karlo, Jessica and I, together with some other people, went to the secretary to sort out the mistake.
After all that was sorted out, we all went back to the ring to start waiting again. And finally at noon it was our turn. I had to stand in line with 2 other dogs and the game was on. I had to try to stand still, facing the right direction and not go sitting down. When the judge was ready we all had to walk a circle in the ring. Then the 2 other dogs went seperatly to the judge to be touched all over and walk a straight line. And then it was my turn. I was a bit uneasy because I never saw that person before, but both her and Jessica tried to relax me. After that we had to run another circle and the results were in…
..
….
Trying to raise the tension ^_^
…….
………
And sadly enough I was last. I guess the judge didn’t like my style. I’m a bit different then the others and she doesn’t know when she has a looker before her.
Just kidding, the winner of my group was a very beautiful keeshond and it was the right decision. After that, Jessica and I went together with Katinka and Tom to look around the show and didn’t see who were the other winners in the other categories for keeshond and pomeranians.
After that Jessica went to buy some stuff for the DSCB. By that time it was already past 3 in the afternoon and everyone was getting ready for the honour circle. So we went up to there and noticed that there was a professional photographer stall at the ring. So Jessica decided to let my picture taking. I had to lay down at a red blancket and pose. You can see the results of the pictures here and you can order some of them if you like ^_^
After the posing, we stayed to look at who all won in their groups. Sometimes we could just predict the winners.
After the show there was still something that Jessica had planned: a walk with some other people of a forum and Katinka with Sammy and Shunka. But first we had to wait for Katinka.
It wasn’t a long walk, but it was a relaxing walk and I was able to release all my energy from the day.
And now I’m finally home and very tired. So I’m off to bed. Good night and sleep tight ^_^

Today is the day that I let myself be checked out by experts. And all I can say is that if they have better know that I’m the best their is ^_^
I’m actually not sure how this all works, but I think I will be fine. I just hope that I can play with lots of other dogs. I think that because it is a DOG show and other dogs will be present.
So I guess I have to start getting ready for it. I have to make sure that Jessica brings nice treats for my during the day ^_^
