Freeze = washing

Posted on 02 February 2012

It’s that time of year again. It’s freezing and that means the city is sprinkling salt in the streets. And for me that mean pads that hurt because salt is sticking in my hair between the pads. So after every walk my paws have to be cleaned with water.
If it isn’t done with water, I would like my paws myself, but Jessica doesn’t allow that. She’s afraid that I’m going to have a tummy ache and be a very sad little kees again. So she cleans it becomes it comes that far.

The things you hear and see when you’re hurt

Posted on 13 January 2012

I’ve been jumping around on 3 legs for a couple of days now and the things you hear other people say outside when they see me is just so funny.
The funniest thing I heard was a grandmother and grandchild walking behind me. The child said: “Look. That woof woof has something on his paw”. As reply the child got: “The woof woof is hurt”. And then the child said: “Poor woof woof. Hope he gets better soon”.
Other people are laughing with the fact that the color of my bandage is changing every day and other people are very serious and ask what has happened.
People I don’t know keep looking and are talking to themselves. I think most of them are thinking “Look at that dog” and “how fast he goes on three legs”.
Other animals don’t react the way people do and cats and dogs always want to play with me. Take Shunka for instance. She wants to play and go for walks with me, but I can’t. As a result, she’s a bit sad. I think she can’t wait to cross over the beach and play in the woods with me.
But today, to fight the boredom, Katinka and Shunka brought two big bones for Shunka and me to nibble on while Katinka’s at work and Jessica will keep watch so that we don’t try to steel each other’s bone.

Wind wind wind

Posted on 05 January 2012

This week’s very windy and I love it. Lots of people and dogs are suddenly disappeared and it’s like Shunka, Jessica and I are the only ones around during our walks. Sure, our hair is been blown in all kinds of directions every time we turn a corner. And at times it’s hard to go forward due to a sudden increase of wind power, but I don’t mind.
The advantage of that much wind is that when you go against the wind direction, you can sniff all the different smells a lot sooner and as a result you can get excited a lot sooner without Shunka and Jessica knowing why.
But I have to tell you I’m a lot more tired when I get home because I have to use a lot more power to move and resist the wind power. But that isn’t so much of a problem because, Shunka and I get enough rests between walks. The only problem is that Jessica doesn’t want to go to the woods, but she promised to take me from the moment the wind isn’t so bad anymore.

Strike a Xmas pose

Today was a relax day, but suddenly I had to be on my best, because Katinka had made an appointment with some friends to make a little photo shoot of her and their dogs. And I was included, but she had forgotten to mention in to Jessica so it was rushing at the last minute.
The idea was to put on some Christmas outfits and make some pictures, but the outfits were mostly suited for more little dogs and this ended up in me being the biggest dog there with the small outfits. So Jessica and Katinka put only pieces on my to make it look like I’m wearing a whole outfit. Sadly enough the pictures were hard to take because it was already evening and indoor so the lights of the living room were on and this clashed with the flash of the camera. It ended up in a festival of pictures of dogs with red and yellow eyes. But Jessica and Katinka are planning to do it over during the day and depending on the weather outside.

Got a frog?

Posted on 03 November 2011

During the walk this evening, everything seemed normal. Shunka and I were sniffing around and doing our usual stuff, when suddenly around the corner, we noticed something weird.
The leaves are still falling of the trees and due to the wind (the little wind we have), the leaves were blown on the street. But one leaf kept laying on the pave way.
When we got closer, we finally notices why it didn’t move. It wasn’t a leaf but a brown frog sitting very still. Shunka went immediately to it for an inspection, but Jessica’s wouldn’t let her. So I tried to go, but that didn’t work either and we both had to walk around it from Jessica without licking or sniffing it. She wanted us to let the frog alone.
I think it’s amazing that sometimes you see animals that you aren’t used to seeing at a certain place. It always makes me want to investigate.

Here we go again

Katinka came home on Monday, only to leave back again today for a couple of days to Holland. I was again so happy to be able to sleep through the night. Oh well, luckily it’s only for a couple of days and Ravi has been calmed down and started to get used to me being there. So he doesn’t come to me all the time anymore. He’s now actually asking more attention from Jessica, which I don’t like so I start to act jealous.

Cat invasion

I’ve spend the first night at Katinka’s house and I can tell you this isn’t what I was expecting at all. It started all good, with getting my dinner and a cookie afterwards. At the same moment the cats got their food too. So after eating, I was resting a bit and then Ravi started coming to me to play. He wouldn’t leave ma alone all evening and at some point I was getting really frustrated and decided to go to Jessica to help me. She told Ravi to stop bugging me and he did.
When it was time for bed, I decided to sleep as close as I could by Jessica. When the lights went out one of the other cats called Neko started playing with Jessica’s keys. She kept jumping to the keys in the door so that it would constantly make noise, but she finally gave up after an hour. So finally it was quiet and I could go to sleep…
And not a half an hour later, Ravi came back to me and started asking me to play. I couldn’t believe it, I wanted to go to sleep. So finally I gave up and jumped on Jessica to help me who was pretty pissed because I did that, but when she knew why, she was that angry anymore.
The whole night cats came visiting me and Jessica so I can tell you that we didn’t sleep as much, only by the start of dawn the cats went to sleep and we could only sleep for a couple of hours.
I can tell you that I slept like a log when I was with Jessica’s parents.

Deer oh deer oh deer

Today, I went on a walk with Katinka, Shunka and Jessica to Drongengoedbos. That’s place is the biggest forest of East-Flanders. It’s been snowing again and this means fun snow times at the woods.
Snow in woods mean looking for animal tracks and jumping over branches and just running around and trying to push over Katinka and Jessica ^_^
After 3 hours walking around, Shunka was suddenly very alert and looking around. I starting sniffing around and suddenly found tracks. And in the distance we suddenly saw a group of deers. They must have picked up our sent and starting running of. To our surprise they didn’t run away, but crossed the paths of Jessica and Katinka so that they would go to the other side of the woods. This means turning around and starting chasing them. I was even quicker than Shunka to follow them, but it wasn’t a success. They just were to fast for us and we lost their track.
During the rest of the walk, I kept searching for them, but I didn’t spot them again. And why didn’t Katinka or Jessica brought their camera to photograph my brilliant tracking action!?

Just kidding

It’s still snowing and I want to take every chance I get to walk in it. I even found a way to go for a walk when Jessica isn’t home.
I start walking around the door like I have to go very badly. Jessica’s parents pick my reaction up and go outside with me, only to find out that I’ve tricked them in it ^_^
And the best thing is… I’ve been doing for days now and they didn’t notice it until today, but they still go out with me because they can’t be sure if it’s me teasing them or that I really have to go.

I love Ravi

Posted on 20 November 2010

Today, I didn’t go to dog school, but stayed at home with Jessica just being lazy. Jessica’s sister had asked us to go check up on her cats, so that they wouldn’t be lonely.
So we went to visit them around noon just after my morning walk. We only saw 2 of the 6 cats, but that was no problem, because some of them like to sleep around. When Jessica and I went for another walk in the afternoon, I just wanted to go to Katinka’s home so badly. And when we arrived there I finally saw her male cat Ravi. I really like him. He always comes spinning against me for attention. And today was no difference. I was so enjoying his company that I almost didn’t notice that Jessica was ready to go home at a certain point and she had to drag me away from Ravi.
