Dog tracking - 29 Sep 2008

It was that time of year again. The last weekend of September means one thing: dog tracking for 3 days.
The idea was that we would be more prepared this year so that we wouldn't have lot's of trouble. So Jessica packed up my fleece for in the evening and everything else I needed. We were all ready to go on Friday, but then Katinka remembered that we had to had our yearly shot or we wouldn't be able to participate. So we hurried to the vet to get all the shots necesary.
And immediatly after the vet, we went direction Brussels. We were stuck in traffic for a bit (did you expect anything else), but we were still there on time. We caught up with Barbara and Diena. After extended sniffing, we started the first walk. Just like last year we had to walk 75km in 3 days. Last year we did a lot more because we were lost and had to search or way, but there was an experienced map reader in our team so it went a lot better.
On the first day, there were no problems, but on the second day... Nobody was allowed to touch my back. It was hurting like hell. It was a result of the shots I got on Friday. I think that the vet pulled a mussle and with the long walk after, I started to feel it. I was running and walking without problems, but nobody could touch my back for the rest of the trip.
In the evening I was put on my fleece, but some of the other participants found that very funny and started calling us wimps. But after a couple of hours, Shunka and I were laughing because everybody else was could except for us ^_^
Dispite of the pain of the shots and being laughed at the trip was very good and very exciting and I can't wait until next year.
Eijility - 13 Sep 2008

It has taken a while, but it finally happened. Today was my debut of agility and as always I was superb ^_^
Jessica wanted to wait until I got a little bit calmer and not so focused on other dogs, but after 3 years she knows that's impossible, so she decided I could try it.
After registration in dog school, the first lesson began this afternoon. I had to jump on the table, jump over sticks, run through the sack and tunnel. I had most trouble with the tunnel, because I kept thinking that I would get a treat before entering, but that wasn't true T-T
I was hoping to get a lot more snacks, for doing less than I had to do. But the instructor was surprised that this was my first lesson, because I did so well. What they did notice was that although I should jump on large, I won't do it and they won't allow it. Because of the way I'm build, I don't jump correctly. So I'm only allowed to jump mini and medium. But that doesn't bother me, this means less hard work.
After the lesson, it's normally time for the debutants to play, but since they wouldn't come on the field, the instructor told us that we could play a little bit more. So Jessica decided to take pictures of me.
So this means that starting today i will be doing 'eijility'. I call it eijility and not agiliy because I will follow my own rules ^_^
The hunter - Part 2 - 25 Aug 2008

I was to excited to write about it yesterday evening, so I'm writing it today. I'm become more and more of a hunter.
Yesterday we (that's Sammy, Shunka, Katinka, Jessica and me) went for a walk behind the airport. There's farmer ground behind it and an excellent area for walking. There are a couple of fields with cows (who follow us everytime we walk by), but also fields for harvest.
When we arrived at the last field, Jessica spotted a rabbit and showed it to me. Shunka wasn't there because she was already chasing another one we spotted earlier. So I started running towards it and when I was almost at his spot, the rabbit saw me and started running away. So I started chasing it, but with all the sharp corners he took, it was difficult. To release some of the tension in me, I started barking which made the rabbit more desperate.
Suddenly the rabbit took a wrong turn and came close to a ditch. So he decided to jump over it. When I arrived I kept running around that area, because I lost his trail. But suddenly I saw that he had miscalculated the distance and was in the water. I decided to step back a bit, so he could come out. And the fool did ^_^
I immediatly started chasing him again, and he escaped barely. He went in the direction of Sammy, Katinka and Jessica. They noticed the rabbit and blocked his way. So he had to make another sharp turn and started running riight across the field. I was barking like mad chasing him and we were getting further and further from everyone else.
After more than 10 minutes chasing him in bushes, I heard Jessica and Katinka calling my name and that I had to come back. Relunctly I gave the chase up and went back to them. They both congratulated me for doing such a great chase and promised something very yummy when we got home. And I did! I got lot's of cookies when we got home!!!
Allergy - 07 Aug 2008

It has been a while that I had some skin irritations but each time Jessica went to the vet with me and we treated it.
We started with desinfecting all the spots, and after a while they dissappears.
But lately it is getting worse and it can itch a lot. So we went back to the vet for a check up. The vet didn't find a cause for the irritations, so he decided to give me a cortisone treatment and a spray to reduce the itching.
I hope it works, because now it's getting really itchy. The irritation causes round loose scales on my tummy.
Brabantse Wal - 06 Aug 2008

On Monday and Tuesday I went with Shunka, Katinka, Diena and Barbara (I know these two from a forum) on a trip to the Brabantse Wal. It's a green area just above Antwerp.
I've never heard of it, so I was very excited.
It was a great two day trip: running in the fields, jumping in the water, searching for wild animals.
In the evening it was a bit cold but Shunka and me were put on our fleece, so we could stay nice and warm after the whole day running around. Barbara was laughing at us for wearing it, but we didn't care.
In the end it was lot's of fun and lot's of new discoveries. I hope we can go again next year.
