The Breed
The keeshond is a known to be a watchdog. He's very alert and has good hearing. He has the intention to let you know very quickly that somebody is coming or is just passing by (with this I mean that he will bark for almost everyhting). But you can train him to tone down the barking.
He isn't the type of dog with a prey instinct and would go hunting. They are in fact very sociable with other kinds of animals.
The spitz is very intelligent and learns very quickly. As a down side, this means that he can get bored very soon.
This kind of dog is also known as a "people dog". He has very close connection with his owner and just loved to do anything for him.
Another expression they use to define the keeshond is "jump for joy". And you can also put this litterally in practice. They can jump very high from a stand still.
